Numero Uno

Six weeks ago (15th September 2013) was the 1st anniversary of my blog. During my kindergarten days, we start the numbers with either 0 or 1. But in my opinion, the numerical system starts with the number 0 because, it was the invented in ancient times. The word 'zero' means nothing in Latin or 'nil'. The number 1 is associated with everything first. When a movie completes 2 to 4 weeks in the box office, it is said to be the blockbuster/biggest hit of the year. It is also associated with the sporting positions in tennis, football, cricket, basketball, volleyball, F1 and even the Olympic Games as in the case of the Gold medalist. If the song was a big hit or popular in a country, it would occupy the number 1 position of its popularity.  When a product (consumer/non-consumer) is of good quality, it will be labeled as the number 1 product in every town/city/region/state/province/country. Even a baby turn 1 year old i.e., his/her birthday was celebrated as the 1st birthday whereas a couple who got married a year later on that day celebrate their wedding anniversary on that day. When a person died on that day of the previous year, his/her death anniversary is observed. When a company celebrates its establishment, it is celebrating its  anniversary of its establishment. when a famous event occur on that day, the first anniversary was observed. The most significant anniversaries are the 10th, 25th, 50th, 75th and the 100th. Sometimes anniversaries are also called as Jubilees. The 10th anniversary is called as the Decennial and it is called as the Tin/Aluminum Jubilees and it is known as the event/company which completed a decade. The 25th anniversary is called as the Silver Jubilee, the 50th anniversary is called as the Golden Jubilee/ Semicentennial and it is also called as the half century, the 60th anniversary is called as the Diamond Jubilee, the 75th anniversary is called as Platinum Jubilee and finally the 100th anniversary which is known as the Centennial Jubilee.

It is also associated with the performance of students in the academic year (schools/colleges/universities). Numbers are also associated with street names, phone numbers (mobile/landline), communications, volume and pages of publication materials (books, novels, ebooks, encyclopedias, thesauruses, magazines and newspapers), bank accounts,  ATM pin codes, age, sex, colors, shapes and sizes, clothing (in response to size of dress, shoes etc), demographics, computers, economy (GDP and PPP), computer programming, architecture, nature, natural disasters, information technology, electricity(in response to watts), medicine, medical reports, technology, history, ratio, human resources, botany and zoology(in response to species, number of cells), profit and loss, sales, discounts,  height, media, weight, commodities, kilograms, millimeters, litres, kilometers, marketing and retail, money (cash and credit), centimeters, recipes (in response to measurements of ingredients), seismography, production, sociology, literature, elections (with references to votes), data and memory in computers, bills, house addresses, measurements, food and drink, house expenses, geometry, area pin codes, bills, statistics, tourism, surveys, engineering, chemistry, physics, scientific research, astronomy, astrology, finance/commerce, timings and even days, dates, weeks, months, years, centuries and millenniums.

When I was in high school and in my first and second semesters of BCA, I found mathematics extremely tough, especially the polynomials section. But I found the rest of the sections are very easy, especially geometry. Mathematics was divided into 3 subjects. They are arithmetic, algebra and geometry. Arithmetic is one of the easiest subjects in mathematics, it is associated with plus(+), minus(-), multiplication (*), and division(/).  The theories of L.C.M and H.C.F are the part of arithmetic. Algebra is associated with mathematical formulas like (a + b)2, (a - b)2,  (a + b + c)2,  (a2 + b2 + c2), ( a - b) 2, ( a + b)3, (a - b)3 and other mathematical formulas shown below, as well as union and intersection of sets, matrixes (rows and columns), Boolean algebra, exponents, linear equations, quadratic equations, rational expressions, properties of complex numbers, radical properties, absolute value, common factoring examples and arithmetic progression. The subset of Algebra is logarithm. It is the exponent to which another fixed value and the base is raised to produce a number. Geometry is associated with lines and angles (acute, right, obtuse, straight and reflex), rectangles, triangles, parallelograms, areas, squares, axioms, radius, rhombus, hypotenuses, trapeziums, theorems, particularly the Pythagoras Theorem and even the Venn's diagram. The subset of geometry is trigonometry which is known for sin, cos, tan, cosec, sec and cot. But sin, cos and tan have the opposites and the same numbers. The trigonometric tables and formulas are given in the link below.

Connecting numbers with age of a person doesn't mean he or she is looking young or old. Age is divided into 7 stages. They are infancy, childhood, teenager/adolescence, young adult, adulthood, retirement and old age. The first stage of life was infancy, which begins with the birth of a child and
it continues till the child is 3 years old. When a child turns 1 years old, he/she will be known as the toddler. Toddler is the subset of infancy and it's lifespan is between 1-3 years whereas the life span of  an infant is between 0-3 years old. The Second stage of life is Childhood. Childhood begins when a child turns 3 years old and it continues till a child turns 10 years old. The life span of childhood is 7 years i.e., 3-10 years old. Childhood ends when a child turns 10 years old. The third stage of life is Adolescence/Teenage years. Adolescence is the beginning of a child growing up and it is the first stage of becoming a teenager. It is also called as preteens.  Adolescence lasts for 2 years. The Teenage stages begins when a child turns 13 and it was the first stages of adulthood. The teenage years last for 7 years i.e., from 13 to 19. Teenage years end when a person turns 20 and it was known as the young adult stage. It was the third stage of life. But in most countries, the age of the majority is 18 years old.  It was the age when a person is eligible to vote, get married, drive, drink, get a job, go to university etc. It was also a stage of youth. Its life span is 12 years old i.e., 18-30 years old. The fourth stage of life is adulthood. It begins when a person turns 30 years old and it last for 30 years old and its lifespan is from 30-60 years old. The fifth stage of life is the Retirement stage. It begins when a person turns 60, he/she is retiring or turning older. This is the journey of a person to a seventh and final stage that is known as old age. Old age is the end of the life cycle of every human being. This marks the end of the life cycle.

Hot Summer Season

Every year, we have lot of seasons. Summer, Winter, Autumn, Spring and the Monsoons, but my favorite season of all of them is the monsoon. When I was in kindergaten or in 1st standard, I learnt about the four season of the year. In Bahrain, the summer season is starting from June to August whereas in India, it is starting from March and it continues till the end of May.

The summer season has both advantages and disadvantages. The main advantage of the summer season was it relieves the stress of children from the stressful school days and it also relieves the stress of adults from the hectic working days and schedules. Most of the families go to the travel agencies for the exotic locations in foreign countries as well as in their native countries. In olden days, people used to visit their grandparents' house. It is somewhat relaxing. during the summer season, people learn new things like cooking, learning languages, trekking, shopping, reading, going to the movies, painting, making pottery, going to restaurants, watching movies, spending time with friends and meeting new people. During this season, spent all the time reading books, watching tv, surfing the internet .

The main disadvantages of the summer season was that it increases heat waves as well as continuous power cuts as well as water shortages. This year's  summer season is so pathetic, as we have the worst power cuts ever i.e., load shedding. I was extremely irritated by the continuous power cuts every 1 hour. It also reduces water level, as a result water supply/running water was cut short. It was extremely difficult for people to drink water, take bath, water the garden during this season. It also resulted in droughts in many parts of the world.

On the last week of the May, the summer season is on its final stage and the Monsoon season has officially began. It was also the back to school and college season for school children and college students. It was also a back to work session for employees. When I was in my school and college days, I found the end of the summer season sad.

(I started writing this blog in April but unfortunately this is September).

My school friend's wedding

It was on Sunday, February 17th 2013 at 8:00 am, my mom woke me up so quickly but i am so sleepy at that time. After my breakfast, I became so fresh and I had a bath and i got ready immediately, but mom and dad are already ready. It was a very special day because one of my friends in Little Rock Indian School and my classmate, Neeha is getting married. She was getting married to a boy named Fardan. She was with me when we were in 8F and we used 2 share writing notes. Then later, I was dressed up for the function and then we left home at 10 a.m. Afterwards, Rehana aunty and Fazal chacha came to our car but most of the relatives went to the bus for the baraat. The journey from Santhekatte to Barkur was a 1 1/2 hour journey. Afterwards, we reached Barkur for the wedding.

Normally, our weddings are held at marriage halls but this wedding was held at her home. I was waiting for Neeha to come out of the house but here sister Nisfa and her two brothers are outside. At approximately 11:30, Neeha came out of her house and  the nikah started. After the nikah was over, I met Neeha and I congratulated and met her after 8 long years. Then later I met two of her friends, Vasanti Nayak and Sheekha Sid, also from Little Rock and for the second time, i have been reunited with my school friends and even Sharel's mom came for the wedding. Vasanti Nayak was currently an architect and she recently graduated from Manipal School of Architecture and Planning at Manipal University whereas Sheekha Sid did her MBA in Human Resources at Nitte Mahalinga Adyantia Memorial Institiute of Technology (even i did my MBA in Human resources at Sikkim Manipal University). The first time I had a school reunion during weddings was with Riya Mathias during Hanan's wedding. She was my friend class 7F and 9F and she was Hanan's neighbour. Afterwards we had lunch, the main staple of our weddings are Briyani (normally chicken/mutton), chicken fry, raita, curry (chicken/mutton), jalebi, ice cream and cold drink.

After the lunch was over, Vasanti and Sheekha called me for the photo session. Immediately after my mom took kheer, I was ready and excited. Then I told mom to take the photo via my recently bought Samsung Galaxy Ace cell phone (Neeha has Gio), Vasanti, Sheekha and me stood alongside Neeha and the photo session begins.

After the photosession was over, Vasanti and Sheekha went back to their respectives homes, and now the photo session with me and Neeha.

After a memorable photosession with Neeha, i went back home with mom and dad, Fazal Chacha and Rehana aunty. We dropped Fazal chacha near the Santhekatte bus stand and Rehana aunty near her house. After we reached home, we freshen ourselves and took rest and this is one of the most memorable days ever.

A makeover

Today, i woke up at 8:45 in the morning, I got a hair straightening appointment at Profile beauty parlour in Manipal. Afterwards, i had breakfast and we got ready at 9:30 and we reached Manipal by 10:30. Then later the appointment has begun. It began with washing my hair in water then followed by a hair straightening cream for 45 minutes. Afterwards they washed my hair in water and they used 2 hair dryers to dry my hair just before the straightening begins, then it is followed by the straightening and it was extremely hot and it was burning like anything. After the straightening was over, they washed my hair again and a straightening cream was applied again for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, the hair cream was set and they washed my hair and the hair dryer was used again and it was over. Then later, we had lunch at China Valley in which we had chicken tikka maslala, paneer manchuri and naan followed by vanilla and chocolate ice creams only for dad and me. Afterwards we went to buy some stuff at a nearby shop and we came back home afterwards.

The previous time I was in Profile beauty parlour was back in June 8 2008, when we are getting ready for a relative's engagement ceremony and the previous time I had my straightening done was back in July 2011, one day after the Hogenakkal picnic. I first had my hair straightening when I was 17 years old, then the second time I had my hair straightening was during Shummi's enngagement back in 2008. We occasionally straighten our hair and buy new clothes especially during weddings, house warming ceremonies, engagement parties, photo sessions and even the 2 Eids (Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha). But I suffered a hairfall because of the chemicals used in the straightening creams and then i discontinued using the shampoos (i.e., L'oreal shampoos).

We go to varoius beauty parlours mostly for threading our eyebrows and for removing blackheads, mostly at our nearby beauty parlour owned by a lady named Sulakshana. But I occassionally do clean ups on special occassions. But we do most of the facials like multani mitti, cucumber juice, oatna and various fruit facials. But remember, beauty is indeed skin deep.
